FAQ

Hardware questions

What hardware does a restaurant need to start?

A POS terminal, a receipt printer for guests, a kitchen printer for the pass, a cash drawer and a payment terminal for KHQR and cards. Cafés often add a customer-facing display; busy kitchens add the KDS screen instead of a kitchen printer.

Why do I need a separate kitchen printer?

Kitchen printers use impact technology that prints through heat and grease, and they print order tickets that stay readable all shift. Regular receipt printers fade and jam in a hot kitchen — that is why our restaurant packages always include one.

How does the Kitchen Display System work?

Orders appear on the kitchen screen the moment a waiter confirms them, color-coded by course and wait time. Cooks bump items when done, and the screen tracks how long each dish takes — no paper, no shouting.

Can waiters take orders and payments at the table?

Yes — with the handheld, waiters send orders straight to the kitchen from the table and print or scan KHQR for payment on the spot. Tables turn faster and order errors drop dramatically.

Is the equipment water and heat resistant?

Kitchen-side devices are chosen for heat, steam and grease resistance; counter terminals have spill-resistant screens. Still, we position every device during installation so that the busy pass stays safe.

Can I connect my Grab delivery orders to the counter?

Yes — Grab Food orders flow straight into the same kitchen queue as dine-in orders, so your kitchen works from one screen. Setup is part of the Enterprise package and available as an add-on on Essential.
